The Lahaina Restoration Foundation 2009 Scholarship Winners!


Each year The Lahaina Restoration Foundation proudly awards a number of scholarships to Seniors and Alumni of Lahainaluna High School. This year The Foundation awarded 19 students with scholarships at their annual meeting held at the Pioneer Inn in Lahaina. Applicants are required to write an essay on 1 of 2 topics.

ALUMNI APPLICANT TOPIC: Looking at the future of Lahaina, what do you feel are
some of the challenges we in West Maui are ffacing in order to preserve the culture and history of our community for generations to come? What are possible solutions?


SENIOR APPLICANT TOPIC: Explain how you personally can contribute, in the future, to preserving or promoting the history of culture of West Maui.


Scholarship Committee Chairperson Penny Wakida noted that “the future of Lahaina is looking brighter and brighter because of our youth” and announced The Foundation’s 2009 Lahainaluna High School scholarship recipients at the 2009 LRF Annual Meeting.
