Pack your lunch and bring your friends to the lawn of the Baldwin Home Museum for Kanikapila with Poki on Thursday, September 10th from 11:00am-12:30pm. Brought to you by Lahaina Restoration Foundation, the free lunch time concert will feature lively tunes by Tunana DaBand and will be hosted by Braddah Poki of Pacific Radio Group.
A beautiful woman with a beautiful voice, Emma Veary was popular among locals and visitors alike for her renditions of hapa-haole songs and traditional compositions. Veary began performing as a youth, appearing in children's shows from the age of 5 and in local nightclubs by the time she was a student at Roosevelt High. Her Waikiki shows — from the Monarch Room of the Royal Hawaiian to the showroom at the Halekulani — were packed. She received the Hawai'i Academy of Recording Arts' Lifetime Achievement award in 1994 and now resides in Maui.
While Emma Veary performs at Kanikapila with Poki, the “Lei Ladies” of the Lahaina-Honolua Senior Citizens Club will string fresh flower lei under the shade of the kou trees on the Baldwin Home Museum lawn. The Baldwin Home Museum is located on the corner of Front and Dickenson Street in the heart of historic Lahaina.
