Help Preserve Lahaina's History
The Pioneer Mill Co. Smoke Stack, a major landmark in
Lahaina, has recently been restored!
In 2010, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation proudly completed the much anticipated restoration of the Smokestack and finally restored
the top of the stack which was removed several years
ago for safety reasons. The four month restoration of the smokestack included the installation of 17 carbon steel tension bands, a steel door over the flue duct breeching, repair of the exterior concrete, a waterproof coating of the entire exterior, and installation of a 14 foot high carbon steel “crown” on top of he smokestack to replace the cap that was removed for safety reasons during the mill demolition.
Aside from the structure itself, the renovation also included an interpretive plaque display, landscape features and a circular commemorative brick walkway around the base of the smokestack. These
bricks are available for purchase and can be
engraved with your name, the name of a loved one, your
company name or logo. By purchasing a brick, you're preserving a bit of history while helping
offset restoration costs and creating a permanent
legacy of your support for Lahaina's history.
